TULSA, Okla., Dec. 14, 2011
- Gateway Mortgage Group, a privately held
mortgage bank providing conventional, FHA and VA loans through 50
retail branches nationwide, announced today that its servicing
portfolio has grown to $1.2 billion in volume.
In 2010, Gateway executives decided to build the infrastructure
to retain servicing in-house and end its reliance on the five large
aggregators in order to provide borrowers with high service levels
throughout the lending relationship. The company developed thorough
policies and processes, brought on staff with extensive experience
in areas such as collection, loss mitigation, and escrow analysis
and worked with GCC Servicing Systems to create the internal
platform. Within a year, the company had grown its portfolio to
more than $1 billion, which was managed by 19 employees.
"We wanted to originate, fund, close and maintain loans for our
borrowers instead of selling them off to a big box lender. Keeping
it in-house was the only way to ensure great service," said Kevin
Stitt, president of Gateway. "As Basel III changes the role of
large depository institutions in the servicing arena, lenders will
be forced to either build in-house departments or select a
sub-servicer. We were ahead of the curve in this move. With
90 percent of the country's loans being serviced by five
organizations, we felt it was important to bring diversity to the
landscape while offering better service to our customer base."
In addition, since bringing servicing in-house the company's
delinquency ratios have decreased year over year by three
percent.
"Relying on larger lenders to service our loans, we had no
control of the process and couldn't ensure a great experience for
our customer. Handling the servicing ourselves enables us to
implement new, innovative ideas for working with borrowers," said
Stitt. "Not only is this good for our business, but for the
industry and economy as a whole."

Jacksonville, Fla. April 5,
2011 - Gateway Mortgage Group, Tulsa, OK, has selected
the Residential Lending System from MortgageFlex Systems, Inc.,
a leading provider of lending and servicing system solutions, for
their loan origination needs.
Gateway Mortgage, one of the Mid-West's largest
privately held mortgage companies, is a full service, multi-state
lender that provides total loan services from origination to
servicing. After an extensive due diligence process, they have
opted for the MortgageFlex Residential Lending System which
provides complete remote access for consumers and loan officers.
This total point-of-sale solution meets Gateway's business
requirements while providing room for growth.
The Residential Lending System architecture is smart-client with
Microsoft's .NET 3.5 framework, this design gives lenders a sound,
flexible platform on which to grow their business. Other system
features that were required by Gateway included an integrated
imaging system, a business rules engine that allows a high level of
customization, and a third party origination portal.
MortgageFlex's third party origination portal allows remote loan
originators and brokers direct access to the capabilities of the
loan origination system. Features like real time rate and product
information, loan status and credit checks give originators the
edge they need to make immediate decisions.
Equally important in Gateway's decision process was finding a
vendor that had experienced staff that understood the industry as
well as the software. "It was very evident during our selection
process that the MortgageFlex team knows the business and the
system inside and out," said Tonya Granberry, vice president, IT
Mortgage Applications, Gateway Mortgage.
Further addressing the business perspective, Jonathan Hostutler,
Gateway's chief information officer, said, "We were very impressed
with MortgageFlex's project management side of the planned
deployment. Having a dedicated team for our deployment is a
very nice touch. Many vendors will dedicate a person, but
usually just for the install, and they are just trying to get it
setup and get out of there versus helping us set it up the way we
want it." "In the meetings we have had MortgageFlex, we recognized
the dedication they are willing to put forth for us to succeed with
the product," he concluded.
"We are excited at the opportunity to become a long-term partner
with such a dynamic company and I'm confident that we will exceed
their expectations," said Craig Bechtle, executive vice president,
MortgageFlex Systems.
